EU Offers Role in Supporting Potential US–Iran Agreement
According to reports, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said during a joint press briefing in Islamabad with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar that the bloc sees a practical role in helping ensure any eventual agreement remains durable.
She noted that the EU is prepared to contribute to what she described as a sustainable and peaceful resolution, emphasizing that the bloc can bring economic influence, nuclear expertise, and established diplomatic relationships with Gulf countries, along with ongoing engagement with Iran.
Kallas highlighted that support could include maritime operations as well as financial and economic incentives designed to reinforce stability in the region.
She further stressed that any short-term or “temporary” understanding between Washington and Tehran should be followed by more comprehensive negotiations addressing Iran’s nuclear stockpile and other sensitive issues critical to long-term security arrangements.
