A New Campaign To Give Scholarships To Ukrainian Children To Participate In Sports While Their Parents Serve In The Armed Forces

WASHINGTON , DC, UNITED STATES, March 31, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On March 31, 2026, popular American-Ukrainian singer and foundation director Kelsie Kimberlin launched a campaign to give scholarships to the children of Ukrainian soldiers to participate in sports. The campaign, called “Ukrainian Champions,” is tied to the release of Kelsie’s recent music video, “Champ,” about 16-year-old Ukrainian karate champion Mariia Hnes, who refused to shake hands or take a photo with a competitor from Russia. Mariia’s act of honor went viral in Ukraine and became a source of tremendous pride, especially since her father serves in the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian Champions website is loaded with information about the campaign. https://ukrainianchampions.com/en/— Kelsie Kimberlin
Kelsie filmed that music video with Mariia in Kyiv during a very intense bombing campaign, and the video includes footage of them sheltering together in a hallway while a missile exploded nearby. The video has gone viral over the past month with a million views on YouTube, and the song is currently being played on global radio stations to rave reviews. https://youtu.be/dO19HJGbh4o
“The children of Ukrainian soldiers are under extreme stress, and therefore it is important that they participate in sports as a way to deal with that stress and help them focus on something positive,” said Kelsie. “Many families cannot afford the costs associated with sports leagues or competitions, so our campaign will help to cover those costs.”
The campaign will enlist support from well-known athletes, corporations, foundations, and others, and will showcase athletes such as Mariia, who stand up for Ukrainian honor. The Kelsie Kimberlin Foundation will accept donations and then disburse funds to athletes who apply to provide enough funds for each athlete’s participation for six to twelve months. https://www.KelsieKimberlinFoundation.org
Last April, Kelsie received the United Nations Humanitarian Award and the St. George’s Royal Medal of Honor issued by King Charles for his strong support of Ukraine. She has tens of millions of views, streams, and radio plays for her many songs and videos. All of her current songs include Grammy winners and nominees in the production process. Her full-length movie about Ukraine, “The Last Message,” www.thelastmessagemovie.com, has recently won numerous film festival awards in the Best Documentary category and will be released later this year.
